Kiefer Sutherland, 24

As you may have heard, earlier today, the attorney for 24 star Kiefer Sutherland entered a plea of "no contest" to the DUI charges that were filed following his arrest last month. (Get all the deets in our news story.)

Kiefer's driver's license has been revoked at least until a sentencing hearing scheduled for Dec. 21. So, what does this legal turn of events mean for season seven of 24?

Well, Fox just released a statement assuring all us die-hard fans that the show will go on. According to the studio, which produces the series, "With this agreement, Kiefer has ensured that the production of 24 will not be adversely impacted by his personal situation and will wrap in May 2008 as scheduled."

And the official statement of support reads:

Today our friend Kiefer Sutherland resolved his criminal case at the earliest opportunity. Kiefer made clear to us at the time of his arrest that his first concern was the welfare of those he worked with and that he intended to do whatever was necessary to prevent shutting down the show because of his situation. He told us that even if he had to sacrifice more time in custody in order to protect the show and the jobs of those who work with him, he would do so. From what occurred today, it is evident he is a man of his word. We wish him well and look forward to a long relationship with him.

And Kiefer himself just released a personal statement that reads as follows:

I'm very disappointed in myself for the poor judgment I exhibited recently, and I'm deeply sorry for the disappointment and distress this has caused my family, friends and coworkers on 24 and at 20th Century Fox. I appreciate the support and concern that has been extended to me these last weeks both personally and professionally.
