True Blood Star Camping Out for New Moon Tix?!
Alexander Skarsgård can't wait to start shooting the next season of True Blood.
"It's been like five or six months since I've seen most of them," Skarsgård, who plays vampire Eric on the hit HBO series, told me at the GQ Men of the Year party. "I miss the whole cast and crew. It's sort of my family away from my family in Sweden."
In the meantime, there is that other bloodsucking megahit phenomenon sweeping the world universe to keep everyone company. So, will Mr. Skarsgård be checking out New Moon?
"When does it open?" he said, smiling. "I'll get my sleeping bag and wait in line." (P.S.: Maybe Kate Bosworth will join him. The maybe-couple were quite adorable in their comfy coziness at the GQ party).
Now back to vampires, Skarsgård isn't the only one cracking jokes—at least we think he was joking—about camping out to see the return of Robert Pattinson & Co...

Neil Patrick Harris: Wants 2012 Star for HIMYM
Amanda Peet may be getting a call soon from the folks over at How I Met Your Mother.
Neil Patrick Harris says he's itching for the 2012 star to guest on the CBS show...
This Just In: Neil Patrick Harris Should Rule the World
Not So Horrible: In case you turned off the Internet yesterday, you may have missed the news that Neil Patrick Harris joined Twitter. NPH finds Twitter a fascinating and strange new medium for his comedy stylings. See above for proof.
Whee, Glee! New instant-classic Glee music is available online, including a version of "Lean on Me" (we're already preparing to cry during this TV performance), a fabulous pop "Crush," and "I'll Stand by You," which we have to guess (just guess) is Cory Monteith's Finn serenading Dianna Agron's Quinn about her pregnancy and such. Loverly!
Together Again? These new photos of Chace Crawford and Taylor Momsen filming Gossip Girl in New York remind us what a cute couple Little J and Nate were way back in season two. Anybody else want to see them rekindle something once Jenny turns 18?
Taking a Break: Julianne Hough told our own Ryan Seacrest she won't be back for Dancing With the Stars season 10.
American Music Awards: E! got the exclusive scoop that our girl Kristen Bell will be a presenter at the American Music Awards this weekend, along with Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato and Colbie Caillat.

Oscar Watch: Odds Are Not With Neil Patrick Harris
Hugh Jackman's out. Ricky Gervais is taken. Neil Patrick Harris is moving up the Academy Awards' invite list.
Not so fast on that last one.
On Friday, we asked Las Vegas' own Oscar handicapper Johnny Avello for his take on who'll be the awards show's next host. Avello, director of sports race and sports operations for the Wynn and Encore hotels, kindly complied with a hot-off-the-presses line.
When we first took a look, we were surprised. And not because the favorite of favorites is a dark horse. Because it—or rather, he—isn't. At all. Let's just say if Avello's right, your next Oscars telecast is going to be a blast from the past.
And not a blast from the Emmys by way of the Tonys. (Sorry, NPH.)

Neil Patrick Harris Totally Has Batman's Number!
Neil Patrick Harris proved he could host the Emmys, but who knew he could kick Batman's butt—just by using his diaphragm?
In this exclusive look at his guest shot on Cartoon Network's Batman: The Brave and the Bold, the multitalented NPH gives voice to the Music Meister, a Mohawk-sporting villain who uses his vocal gifts for evil. This musical episode, which got the nerd seal of approval at Comic-Con this year, airs this Friday.
And holy high notes, Batman—the soundtrack digitally drops a day later.
Despite the incongruity of a bad man with the voice of a sweet, sweet angel, this looks like it could be the end of Batman. Or the beginning of a very special duet.

Chelsea: Why Did You Snub E!, Neil Patrick Harris?
Um, Neil Patrick Harris?
Chelsea Handler wants to know why you didn't include E! in your fabulous Emmy song about networks? Considering E! actually covers the Emmys, for crying out loud!
But the Chelsea Lately host already has a plan in motion to raise the network's profile...

Don't miss Chelsea Lately, weeknights at 11 p.m. ET/PT.
Derek Hough: Shannon Elizabeth's Still "My Girl"
In addition to hefty gift bags, last night's ET/People partygoers got a little extra love from Mary J. Blige. The singer performed at the Emmy bash, held at the Vibiana, while Samantha Ronson worked the turntables.
Dancing With the Stars' Derek Hough came sans ex-girlfriend Shannon Elizabeth, who he got cozy with Friday at the Family Guy pre-Emmy party.
"We're still really great friends," he explained to me. "We go out, we hang out. She's my girl, man, and I still love her to death and we remain friends."
But it doesn't sound like a reconciliation is in the works...
Neil Patrick Harris Saves TV! (Well, the Emmys)
Oh, Neil Patrick Harris is a magician, all right.
Asked to stave off the dying network television model and compete against a monster football game with not much more than a tuxedo jacket and a nimble mind, Harris came through, helping the Primetime Emmys reverse a three-year ratings slide.
Last night's show was watched by 13.3 million, preliminary Nielsen estimates showed. The audience was the telecast's biggest since 2006.
If you think Harris deserves kudos for getting anybody to sit through a rerun of last year's Emmy winners (30 Rock! Mad Men! Again!), then you are not alone.
Here's a roundup of blurbs Harris might want to save for the scrapbook (or the next round of contract negotations):

Maksim & Karina: Dancing Over to the Emmys
Dancing With the Stars' real-life sweethearts Karina Smirnoff and Maksim Chmerkovskiy are waltzing their way into the Emmys.
A source exclusively reveals that the husband-and-wife-to-be (they got engaged on New Year's Eve) will be performing during the big awards show Sept. 20.
I know exactly what they'll be doing, but I think I'm gonna hold off on telling ya too much so you can be surprised. I promise, however, it's going to be fun.
The two have already shown us what kind of fancy footwork they could get themselves into...
How I Met Your Mother Swaps Spit This Season
Only one year ago, How I Met Your Mother was on the chopping block. Josh Radnor now proclaims to the world, "They can't cancel us right now!" Thank goodness! Not that we were worried or anything.
When the Emmy-nominated HIMYM went back into production on season five, E! News hit the set to get the scoop just for you. First though, Neil Patrick Harris dishes about hosting the Emmys and how he feels about not having to be in the hot seat in the audience before the announcement of his own award.
Speaking of Barney in the hot seat, Cobie Smulders spills that Barney and Robin are going to "pursue a courtship" this season, which includes a lot of making out. Squee!
See what Jason Segel did all morning before the first day of shooting and find out who Alyson Hannigan is gunning for to guest star this season in the video above. Then hit the comments to gossip about the Robarney business!

Neil Patrick Harris: Emmy's Foppish, Gangsta, Robot Host With the Most
UPDATE: Better late than never.
More than a week after word broke that Neil Patrick Harris was the emcee of choice for the 61st Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, CBS has formally announced that the small screen star will indeed be serving as this year's host.
Though in what incarnation he'll take to the stage remains to be seen...
"I'm looking forward to the challenge of the show—adding my own voice to it, while honoring the nominees and the entire year in television," Harris said.
"But which voice to choose? I'm torn between gangsta, foppish Brit, and robot. Really proud of my robot. We'll see what happens on the night."
If a tease like that doesn't boost Emmy ratings, nothing will.
————————
Not that it would have been all that difficult to best last year's reality-host trainwreck tag team, but the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is by all accounts thisclose to making it up to viewers by booking the fan-loved and critic-proof Neil Patrick Harris as emcee of this year's Emmys.
Sneak Peek: Neil Patrick Harris Freezes on Top Chef Masters
Is it just us, or is Neil Patrick Harris simply delicious in everything he does? From How I Met Your Mother to hosting the Tonys to this week's guest spot on Top Chef Masters, the funnyguy simply makes us smile every time he opens his funny little mouth.
The actor heads to the Magic Castle in Hollywood for a special episode of Top Chef Masters, Wednesday at 10 p.m. on Bravo, to be wined (well, saked) and dined by the best.
As you see in the clip above, NPH seems to know a thing or two about gourmet food and what goes well with his favorite drink: sake.
