Detectives looking to provide some answers for Jennifer Hudson and her grieving family said Thursday that it appears as if the actress' nephew was killed in the SUV where his body was found Monday morning.

Which would mean that 7-year-old Julian King was alive when he was taken from the home of Hudson's mom, Darnell Donerson, who along with son Jason Hudson was found shot to death Friday afternoon.

Responding to a call from a couple who noticed that the license plate number on a 1994 Chevrolet Suburban parked near their house matched the one police were looking for, officers discovered the young boy's body in the backseat. He had died of multiple gunshot wounds to the head.

Authorities did not specify when they think the child might have been killed. A .45-caliber gun believed to have been the murder weapon was discovered yesterday in a vacant lot around the corner from where the SUV was parked.

William Balfour, the estranged husband of Julia Hudson, Jennifer's sister, has been questioned as a "person of interest" in the investigation and remains in custody on a parole violation.

The Hudson family confirmed that a private memorial service will be held for the victims Monday morning at Chicago's Apostolic Church of God.
