Ay, caramba. Relations between Mexico and France apparently aren't as smooth as once thought.

A rep for Salma Hayek and her French billionaire baby daddy, François-Henri Pinault, has confirmed the couple of two years and parents of one have called off their engagement.

No reason was given for the nuptial nixing, and there's no word on whether the couple plans to stay together despite the sudden lack of wedding bells in their future.

"We are sad to announce the engagement of Salma Hayek and François-Henri Pinault has been canceled," Hayek spokeswoman Cari Ross tells E! News. "There will be no further comment."

While no wedding date was ever set—or at least made public—the duo made a media splash back in March 2007 with the announcement that the Frida star and fashion tycoon were headed not only down the aisle but for the maternity ward.

In September of last year, the couple welcomed close-up-ready daughter Valentina Paloma Pinault, the first child for 41-year-old Hayek (who later revealed she suffered a difficult pregnancy, including a bout with diabetes) and the third child for the 45-year-old CEO, who, among other luxury brands, owns Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent. Pinault has two children from a marriage that ended in 2004.

The low-profile twosome was last publicly spotted together back in February, when they attended the Madonna-hosted Gucci store opening in New York that doubled as a benefit for her Raising Malawi foundation.
