He popped champagne, gave some big speech about the future of social media and donated some mosquito nets for World Malaria Day.
Well, time has caught up and now Britney has surpassed Demi Moore's hubby with 4,948,848 followers to his 4,943,297...and all he has to say is "I don't care."
Actually, he twittered his response during a press junket for his and Katherine Heigl's new movie Killers (you know, the one that looks like Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz's new movie Knight & Day):
"2nd most pop Q 'What do U think about Brittney having more followers than u?' Answer 'I don't care. Aren't u suppose 2B a movie reporter?'"
And how did Britney respond to the big news? By actually twittering. It's a big deal since only a couple of tweets a month are actually from the pop singer, (the rest are just from her manager disputing our stories). She celebrated the Queen of Twitter honor by thanking her fans on this momentous occasion and promising to answer questions:
"WOW!!!!! #1 on Twitter! Thank you! Tweet me some questions this morning! xoxo -Brit"
"This is really amazing! I love you all! I better get busy writing 4,947,608 thank you notes! U guys make me sooo happy! -Brit"
We hope Britney enjoys her Twitter reign while it lasts; it's only a matter of time until Justin Bieber finally and officially rules it all.
