Billy Crystal Serenades Leno on Penultimate Tonight

(Crank this baby up to 32:30)

It wasn't quite "One for My Baby," but the great tradition of singing out Tonight Show hosts was alive and well last night when Billy Crystal serenaded Jay Leno on his penultimate late-night outing.

Taking a page from his Oscar playbook, Crystal, who served as Leno's first guest 17 years ago, delivered a rousing tribute to the outgoing comedian Thursday.

With shout-outs to Hugh Grant's post-Divine Brown interview—widely acknowledged as the point that tipped Leno's ratings over David Letterman's for good—Leno's love of cars, his deluded Jaywalkers and his chinny-chin-chin, Crystal delivered a goodbye fit for the king of late night. (The full episode is viewable at NBC.com.)

Leno's final sign-off, complete with its "really unusual" end, airs tonight with guests Conan O'Brien and James Taylor.
