Green Day just had a banner three days.

Despite releasing their 21st Century Breakdown last Friday, instead of the traditional Tuesday, the Berkeley punksters managed to overcome the shortened sales window and land the new rock opera on top of the pops.

The Grammy-winning band hit No. 1 in the U.S. with sales of 215,000, per Nielsen SoundScan. The trio's new release also topped the charts in more than a dozen countries, including the U.K., Canada, Japan, Mexico, France and New Zealand.

This is Green Day's second consecutive chart-topper, following their critical and commercial 2004 smash (and soon to be stage show), American Idiot.

Green Day may very well have a larger tally on next week's chart thanks to a full sales week, but the punk trio are unlikely to hold the top spot against Eminem, whose Relapse album hit the retail racks yesterday.

With the top spot going Green, Hannah Montana: The Movie spent a fourth straight week at No. 2, selling 68,000.

Cam'ron scored the week's only other Top 10 bow with Crime Pays selling 43,000 copies at No. 3. The Harlem rapper, known for his feuds with Jay-Z and 50 Cent, hadn't released an album since Killa Season's No. 2 debut three years ago.

Paul Wall, meanwhile, just missed the Top 10 as Fast Life got a slow start at No. 15 on sales of 22,000. Just four years ago, the star of the Houston rap scene was topping the charts with The People's Champ.

Overall sales were down nearly 11 percent compared to last week's tally and down 22 percent from the same sales week in 2008.

Here's a rundown of the Top 10 albums for the sales week ended Sunday:

1. 21st Century Breakdown, Green Day
