Happy Doomsday! 2012 Blows Up with $65 Mil
The world may live to see 2013, after all.
The apocalyptic-minded 2012 started off with a $65 million box-office bang, per estimates, beating projections and the weekend competition.
Elsewhere, bigger wasn't always better—or bigger. In limited release, the potential Oscar heavyweight Precious continued to loom incredibly large ($6.1 million at only 174 theaters), while Wes Anderson's Fantastic Mr. Fox enjoyed a fantastic debut ($260,000 at four theaters).
Taking a look inside the numbers:

Shayne Lamas Busted for DUI
First The Bachelor break-up and now this...Shayne Lamas just can't seem to catch a break.
E! News has learned exclusively that the 24-year-old Leave It to Lamas reality star was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI charges just after 1 a.m. Saturday in Venice, Calif.
"Early Saturday morning, after consuming one drink, I willingly drove through a mandatory check point on my way home with complete confidence of passing," Lamas tells E! News. "However, the breathalyzer indicated that I was over the legal limit of blood alcohol content and was arrested onsite.
"I take full responsibility for my lack of judgment. I have always strived to be a role model for my friends, family and fans and have never nor will ever condone drinking and driving. I apologize for all those I have disappointed, including myself."
The reality star was released later that morning. She's due in court Dec. 9 for the misdemeanor charge.

Bruce Springsteen Greets Ohio...in Michigan
He may have been born in the U.S.A., but Bruce Springsteen could use a good map.
The Boss pulled a Britney Spears during a Friday night concert when he shouted, "Hello, Ohio!"...to a crowd in Michigan.
The 60–year-old geographically challeneged "Badlands" crooner referenced the Buckeye State three separate times during the gig at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
That was until E Street Band guitarist Steve Van Zandt stepped in and saved him.
"I just grabbed him and said, 'You don't realize it, but you're saying Ohio and we're in Michigan.' He said 'What?!?," Van Zandt recounted to Rolling Stone. "In his mind he knew he was in Detroit, but somehow Detroit wound up in Ohio for a minute."
While the mixed-up Springsteen probably felt like he was born to run at that point, he just grinned and rocked on through a three-hour concert.

Kourtney Kardashian Showered!
Just as Khlomar's wedding excitement is dying down (or is it?), it's time to pack Kourtney Kardashian's hospital bags.
The E! star is expecting her little boy with boyfriend Scott Disick next month and, today, it was time to shower the upcoming arrival.
Sisters Kim, Kendall and Kylie, as well as pals from college and beyond, gathered at Kris and Bruce Jenner's home in Calabasas at noon. In true Kardashian fabulousness, both Kourtney and Khloé arrived fashionably late.
A sign hung in the window of the sisters' clothing boutique, Dash, announcing that the store would be closed Saturday, and was signed with x's and o's.
No word yet as to how many rolls of toilet paper it took to wrap the mom-to-be's belly completely or if there was a diaper tutorial at the baby bash.

Poll: New Moon vs. News of Water on the Moon
The discovery of significant amounts of water on the moon a few days ago was a key moment in the history of space exploration. But we're guessing there's a different kind of New Moon info that's more likely to send you into orbit, what with Monday's big Twilight sequel premiere in Los Angeles an all.
Which got us to thinking, do icy moon rocks rock your world, or do you favor icy-hot vampires? OK, we've got a pretty good guess which way you're leaning on this, but let's keep things scientific and you tell us in the poll below.

Glee Sneaks: Look Who's Got a Crush on Teacher!
This week's all-new installment of Glee is called "Ballad," and it centers on Rachel Berry's (Lea Michele) new and inappropriate crush on "Mr. Shu" (Matthew Morrison). As Mr. Shu tries to manage Rachel's feelings, he recalls another schoolgirl-crush situation that plagued him in the past. And that young lady is none other than the always-divine Sarah Drew as Suzy Pepper. We caught up with Sarah a few weeks back to discuss her guest gig on Grey's Anatomy and she tipped us off about what to expect from her Glee part:
Carrie Prejean Discusses Christian Boobs
Carrie Prejean's boobs are full of faith.
At least…that's what she's claiming.
The 22-year-old dethroned former Miss California took a stand for Christians with breast implants everywhere, telling Christianity Today that the Bible is all for her pageant-bought boobs.
When the outspoken beauty queen was asked about her implants coinciding with her Christian faith, Prejean said, "I don't think there's anything wrong with getting breast implants as a Christian. I think it's a personal decision. I don't see anywhere in the Bible where it says you shouldn't get breast implants."

Oscar Comes Early for Lauren Bacall, Roger Corman & Gordon Willis
There's nothing like an Oscar to kick off the holiday season.
Iconic actress Lauren Bacall, B-movie maven Roger Corman and Godfather cinematographer Gordon Willis all picked up golden guys Saturday night at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Governors Awards.
The Academy broke the tradition of its March on-camera distribution of honorary awards, and instead held an off-camera, black-tie banquet for the trio at the Grand Ballroom above the Kodak Theater.
Producer John Calley, famed for The Da Vinci Code and Catch-22 among other films, was also honored with the Irving J. Thalberg Memorial Award.
The recipients were cheered on by a mega-watt crowd that included Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Tom Hanks, Jack Nicholson, Kirk Douglas, Ron Howard, Warren Beatty, Annette Bening, Morgan Freeman, Jeff Bridges, Quentin Tarantino, Anjelica Huston and Alec Baldwin, who will cohost the 82nd Annual Academy Awards ceremony with Steve Martin on March 7.

Video: Mariah Carey Wants to Know What Love Is
Mimi has really come to play on her version of Foreigner's gospel-rock classic, "I Want to Know What Love Is." She's scouting the elusive "L" in a packed baseball stadium, watching her tiny self sing in the center of the diamond from the huge video replay monitors.
If the setting is grandiose, her musical taste is clearly down-to-earth. She shows restraint in the verses and the first chorus with a breathy, emotional voice, before the inevitable pyrotechnics later in the song: the gospel choir eruption, hitting the dog-whistle high notes, the naked emotionalism mixed with amazing technical accomplishment—you know, the whole Mariah Carey thing.
It definitely microwaves our burrito, but what did you think? Is this an instant classic or instantly forgettable cheese? Let us know in the comments section.
Runway to Red Carpet: Can Kristen Stewart Pull off Pretty?
Ethereal Anne Hathaway-like draping isn't exactly Kristen Stewart's forté.
But at a Paris photo call for New Moon, K. Stew transformed from a grungy duckling into an elegant swan, thanks to an airy J. Mendel strapless cocktail dress and Sergio Rossi pumps.
So her shoulders were a little slumped and the hair was awful. But really, was the fashion week model's crazy coif any better?
At least the Twilight star ditched the blazer and spray tan for an effortless, French feel.
Or do you think she should have kept the jacket to hide her poor posture?

Rihanna and Chris Brown Battle It Out Via Music Video
With videos like these, it's almost as if Rihanna and Chris Brown were hoping for mass-media scrutiny to follow.
As promised, the two megastars debuted their new music videos on Friday, her first since the highly publicized incident last February, and spoiler alert: they're both left wide-open for interpretation.
Rihanna's "Russian Roulette" portrays some seemingly real emotion as the songstress bounces back-and-forth between writhing around a padded cell, and facing off with a rather muscluar man presenting her with a loaded gun.
Representative of her relationship battles with Brown? Likely Perhaps, but far more unstated than her former counterpart's attempt.
You can't deny Brown's ability to bust-a-move in his videos, but "Crawl" just feels like another one of Camp Chris' ploys for public pity. The song is good, but casting R&B singer Cassie—often touted as Rihanna 2.0 because of her strong fashion statements and outlandish hair styles—to play Brown's faux famous-ex? Not very cool.
Now you decide, who gave fans the best comeback video: Rihanna or Chris Brown?
Boozy Brooke Hogan Belts One Out in Chicago

You really, um, impressed the crowd last night at Enclave nightclub in Chicago.
