We can literally remember a promo poster of Maleficent holding her scary skirt up just like the "Do What U Want" singer. Considering she's also a child of the '90s, we've got to assume she's copying the black cape-clad witch. And knowing the edgy designers of Atelier Versace, we wouldn't be surprised if this was a cartoon-inspired collaboration.
What's weird is that minus the cape and hood, this is actually a simple, black gown. The criss-cross front gives it some depth, as does the light sheen on the fabric. There's a gorgeous draping effect created by the long length and we love the bit of skin popping out through that side cut-out.
So in the end, we're half-terrified and half-transfixed...which can only mean her spell is working, and we'll be sleeping in a castle tower before dinner time.
