Still, we can't help but feel like Cate Blanchett grabbed this over-sized style out of Grandma's hall closet. This giant, black-patterned dress looks a whole lot like an old quilt cut up and tied around the Blue Jasmine star's neck. Did the Christian Dior designers get their inspiration from a recent visit to granny's? Or did they just steal this fabric directly off her bed?
We hate to insult anything on Cate the Great, especially if it's from the incomparable house of Dior, but this look is just way too much of so many things: too much color, too much print and too much fabric. You could hide a whole army of staff under that skirt, which is one way to get an extra assistant or two safely down the red carpet...
We'll appease ourselves by pretending that's The Hobbit star's rationale. That or she needed a giant break from the typical body-hugging dresses—and we mean giant.
