And then there were four!
With the American Idol finale looming in two weeks, the stakes were higher than ever tonight as Phillip Phillips, Jessica Sanchez, Joshua Ledet and Hollie Cavanagh took the stage.
Round one was "California Dreamin'"—songs either about California or by artists from the Golden State—and round two comprised songs that inspired the contestants so much, they wish they had written them.
So, what did the kids come up with? And what did Ryan Seacrest ask girlfriend Julianne Hough during intermission?!

Ryan Seacrest, who was previously announced as a member of NBC's Summer Olympics coverage team, has inked a multiplatform deal with NBCUniversal that will keep him in the family fold for two more years.
But just what does NBC mean when it calls Seacrest's new contract "groundbreaking"?

American Idol carried on tonight without one of its early favorites, the top six tasked first with a Queen medley—accompanied by surviving members Brian May and Roger Taylor.
Side note: Despite speculation earlier in the day that an ailing Ryan Seacrest might be too sick to go on, he kicked off the show as usual looking fit as a fiddle—but Randy Jackson did narrate the intro-to-Queen montage instead of him, so perhaps Ryan was resting up until the last minute.
Anyway, the finalists sounded great taking on Queen hits like "We Are the Champions" and "We Will Rock You" as a group. But how did they sound on their own, doing both Queen songs and a tune they selected themselves?
