The world will forever remember Macaulay Culkin as the adorable blue-eyed kid in Home Alone.

Born and raised in New York City, the young actor attended a private Catholic school and practiced ballet in his free time. After some small roles, he began to shine on the big screen when he starred in the 1989 John Hughes film Uncle Buckalongside John Candy.

Culkin officially became a household name thanks to his role in the most successful movie of 1990, Home Alone—as well as his high-profile friendship with pop star Michael Jackson.

From that point on, Macaulay became one of Hollywood's most sought-after child actors. He starred in a string of films such as My Girl, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, The Good Son, Getting Even with Dad and Richie Rich.

Like other child stars, Culkin experienced some bumps in the road following early successes. He had a brief marriage to actress Rachel Miner that ended in a 2002 divorce. In 2004, police caught Culkin with 17.3 grams of marijuana and prescription pills; he ultimately pleaded guilty and received a fine and three one-year suspended sentences.

In recent years, Culkin appears to have channeled his energy into art. In 2013, Culkin turned his apartment in New York City into an art studio for him and his friends. And he started a Velvet Underground-inspired band called Pizza Underground.

Macaulay has also found a new ladylove after he and actress Mila Kunis ended their 8-year relationship. In Nov. 2013, the actor was spotted looking healthy and happy as he walked with a new girlfriend.
