Harry Potter Author J.K. Rowling's Billionaire Status Disapparates

JK Rowling AP Photo/ Louis Lanzano

J.K. Rowling is down a few hundred-million galleons.

The Harry Potter author, estimated in recent years by Forbes to be worth $1 billion and therefore one of only a few dozen British billionaires, is no longer worth 10 figures, according to the bean-counting magazine.

So what did it? Bad investments? Too many shopping sprees? A butter-beer addiction?

Morning Mail! Cory and Lea’s Relationship: For Real or For Ratings?

Lea Michele, Cory Monteith yfrog.com
More from The Awful Truth

Dear Ted:
What's your opinion about the news of Lea Michele and Cory Monteith dating? Do you think it's for the ratings? Or did they really find true love at the most convenient time?
—Jannye

Dear Music to Their Ears:
Anything is possible, but it seems awfully convenient timing to us. Glee is already getting plenty of buzz for their crazy plot twists, but you have to admit: An on-screen-turned-off-screen couple is just the perfect thing to keep everyone talking. We're calling not BS on this relaysh but EC—for extreme caution!

Dear Ted:
Because of different time zones, I couldn't watch the Oscar gala but I was looking at the pictures wondering: Where was the young generation? It seems that they were completely lacking but it was these young actors like the Harry Potter cast and the Twilight cast who brought in the most money last year. Not to say that these movies were Oscar-worthy (not being a fan of HP, I thought the franchise could've been recognized for something), but they could've asked some of these young actors to present.

Harry Potter just set another record, and for once, the boy wizard has the Academy to thank.

Read it and weep:

More from The Awful Truth

Mark your calendars, Mockingjays, The Hunger Games hits theaters in only 30 days and we can hardly contain our Capitol-hungry hearts!

And we were oh-so-lucky to chat with Dayo Okeniyi, who plays Thresh in the first H.G. flick, to get the inside scoop on what Jennifer Lawrence is really like—ya know, before she becomes the largest big-screen sensation since Bella Swan (Sorry, K.Stew).

So, what did the H.G. hottie have to say about his costar, and why is he calling the futuristic flick more "relatable" than both Twilight and Harry Potter?!

Harry Potter Grows Up? J.K. Rowling to Write First Adult Book

JK Rowling AP Photo/ Louis Lanzano

Here's a novel idea. Literally.

This may come as a shock to the legions of avid and not exactly youthful readers of the Harry Potter series, but the books chronicling the exploits of a boy wizard were in fact for kids.

But just as Hogwarts' star pupil has grown up, so too has the readership targeted by author J.K. Rowling, as it was announced this morning that the best-selling scribe has signed a publishing deal to pen her first novel intended for adults (ahem).

Here's the deal...

Daniel Radcliffe "Miffed" About Harry Potter's Deathly Oscar Curse

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, Daniel Radcliffe Courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures

There's no shortage of magic in the Harry Potter films, but there's one thing the beloved boy wizard could never conjure: Oscar love.

Although the franchise has racked up a total of 12 nominations, it hasn't won a single statuette. Even worse, it's never been recognized in any of the artistic categories, including Best Picture.

Star Daniel Radcliffe isn't a happy camper when it comes to the snub, and he's now giving people a piece of his mind...

Movie Review: The Woman in Black Is Plenty Spooky, but Barely Twisty

Daniel Radcliffe, Woman in Black Nick Wall/Alliance Films

Review in a Hurry: Daniel Radcliffe is sent to a remote village to sort out the affairs of a recently deceased eccentric who lived in a spooky old mansion. There, he sees a whole lotta dead people, but not the helpful kind that haunt Hogwarts.

This supernatural thriller has plenty scares and creepy atmosphere, but the plot could have used more surprises.

Harry Potter's Daniel Radcliffe Feels His New Woman in Black Role Might "Weird People Out"

We know it's kinda odd to see Daniel Radcliffe off doing new, non-Harry Potter things, but that's life!

And aside from bringing on the laughs while hosting Saturday Night Live, the young actor (who will forever remain a wizard in our hearts, let's just admit it) talked to E! News about his biggest project since the franchise ended, The Woman in Black.

Did you know Harry, er, Daniel plays a father?!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint Courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures
Oscar Watch

Believe it or not, as awards seasons go for Harry Potter movies, this one's been pretty kind.

Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is on the Oscars' short lists for makeup and visual effects, it's in the game for Alexandre Desplat's score, and, you never know what miracles Tuesday morning's nominations will bring.

But wait, that's not all…

Kristen Stewart, Breaking Dawn Summit Entertainment
More from The Awful Truth

There are officially fewer than 303 days left until Breaking Dawn Part 2 hits theaters.

And while that may be a little too early to start the countdown, we know you diehard Twi-hards are as psyched as we are to see Kristen Stewart in full-on vampire glory. Oh, and the rest of the Forks gang too, duh.

So are the stars of the flick already feeling the pressure of the final installment?
