Another day, another update. Instagram is the latest social media platform to throw us a new update we never knew we needed. Taking a huge cue from Snapchat, the photo sharing app just introduced "Instagram Stories" that allows you to show off your entire day to your followers. In other words, if you're deep into Instagram and too lazy to open Snapchat, that won't be a problem. Instagram's blog, which announced the news today, says you no longer need to worry about overposting now that you can make these slideshow-style stories.

What's a story without the ability to scribble crap all over it? Worthless. Thankfully, you'll be able to put text and drawings on your masterpiece. Are you a champ at posting content that barely gets any likes? Instagram Stories will vanish after 24 hours, so you don't have to suffer through that horror. While this content won't show up on your photo grid, you can pick a moment to share on your profile if you feel like it.

Just in case this new feature wasn't enough, Instagram is messing with your feed again to make sure you don't miss stories from your fave accounts. You'll see a row of profile pictures at the top, with a ring around each photo any time that profile has a new story to share. You won't be able to make public comments like you can on regular Instagram posts, however. Comments will slide into your DM's which is fine but also mildly creepy. Speaking of creeps, you can hide your story from anyone, even if they follow you. You can also peep who's been watching your story by swiping up when reviewing your own. Happy snapping story-ing!
