Zachary Quinto isn't engaged just yet, but that doesn't mean he hasn't thought about it.

The Star Trek star spoke exclusively to E! News at the Hennessy V.S Limited Edition Bottle Launch in Brooklyn, taking a moment to clarify the uproar-inducing ring he was recently spotted wearing on his engagement finger. As it turns out, Quinto and his boyfriend of about two years Miles McMillan aren't willing to completely settle down at the moment.

"I was just taking it for a test drive, nothing formal," Zachary admitted.

Nonetheless, the story behind the piece of jewelry is pretty darn adorable, despite Quinto calling it "boring."

"It's a vintage ring that I bought as a gift for Miles and because we were not together on this long press tour I was like, ‘I am going to take that ring because I love it.' But the only finger it fit on was my ring finger on my left hand so I didn't think much of it," the actor continued. Aww!

So even if Zachary and Miles' plans to tie the knot aren't in the nearest of futures, fans of the couple will be happy to learn a more formal union is not totally off the table.

"I am thrilled that we can [get married] and I fought really hard for the right to marriage equality. I am really grateful for the Supreme Court for passing it a year ago," he told us. "We love each other and we talk about it, but we have no immediate plans."

Well, at least that's something. As they say, first comes plans, then comes marriage, followed by a baby! Right?

For right now, the 39-year-old is going with the flow, especially in regards to his professional career.

And given the whirlwind of attention that followed Quinto ahead of Star Trek Beyond's July release, he's looking forward to embracing the rest of 2016.

"I have had a lot of amazing experiences and opportunities," Quinto recalled. "A lot of them have come because I said, ‘Yes' and right now I am not saying anything and I am taking time to fill my well and see what comes my way. I just feel right now I have to trust the unknown and that can be a real difficult thing to do."

Quinto also spoke to E! News about the upcoming presidential election, and stated that he's with her. After revealing that he'll be voting for Hillary Clinton, the actor explained, "I feel like what she represents in terms of a shift towards the feminine, and she is a rough candidate, but she embodies a quality that I think is indicative in a larger shift of consciousness, not to get to esoteric about it. I feel like a shift to the feminine is what we need in a lot of ways to get away from this old guard, patriotic way of thinking that Donald Trump represents."

He continued, "I am really inspired about what she has done with her life and how she has used it to serve especially children I just feel the convention has been a great celebration of her accomplishments and the historic nature of this moment."
