She's been a bridesmaid, a spy and a boss. Now, Melissa McCarthy is trying her hand at being a chef. So far, not so good.

During an appearance on The Late Show Tuesday night, the Golden Globe nominee and her husband, filmmaker Ben Falcone, revealed to Stephen Colbert that they're major fans of one Food Network reality show—Chopped.

"I would love to be on it," the actress gushed to the late-night host. Fortunately, it was her lucky night.

While trying to shoot an entire episode of Chopped would take too long for their time slot, Colbert improvised with a Late Night version called Smooshed. Each competitor was given a mystery basket of items—including crackers, marshmallows and bacon bits—as well as a pantry of "whatever we could find in the break room fridge" for free use.

With only one minute on the clock, McCarthy and Falcone moved into quickfire mode as they pulled ingredients for their culinary masterpieces.

"I'm working on sweet and savory," the Spy star told Colbert as she poured out an entire jar of peanut butter and began slicing bologna. Yum.

Finally, it came time for the best part of any cooking competition: the tasting and the judging.

Falcone presented his dish first—a cross between an appetizer and a dessert.

"[It's a] bacon bit marshmallow saltine with just a bit of pickle for taste," he described. Colbert thought the presentation was "immaculate."

Next, it was time for the judge to taste McCarthy's amuse-bouche "rustic hash," which consisted of mayo, bologna, marshmallows and crushed crackers mashed together.

"My bouche is more than amused. My bouche is infuriated at this point. It's shocked," he joked. "It's chagrined and somewhat humiliated."
