Tuesday TV's Big Winner: ABC's latest offering of How the Grinch Stole Christmas (6.5 million viewers, Nielsen estimates showed) was the night's highest-rated show among adults 18-49 who aren't sick of the holidays yet. A repeat of CBS' The Mentalist (10.8 million) was the night's most-watched show.

No Kid Stuff for Them: One demo Grinch didn't dominate was kids 12-17. Its sophisticated members preferred, by a large margin, a repeat of Fox's House (6.7 million viewers overall).

If at Second You Don't Succeed, Give Up: The Donny and Marie Osmond-hosted special Rediscovered (4.6 million), about ex-child performers giving adult stardom a shot, ran fourth in its time slot in adults 18-49, and third in viewers.

A Busy Night for Chirping Crickets: At 10 p.m., an ABC special, The List (2.9 million), drew a sub-one rating in adults 18-49. At 8 p.m., Faith Hill's A Home for the Holidays (6.5 million) barely did better, scoring a skinny 1.1 in the demo.
