Don Francisco, former host of Univision's Sabado Gigante, has cut a deal with Telemundo to be a senior news correspondent and lead a production venture.

The TV legend, whose real name is Mario Kreutzberger, created and hosted the longest-running TV variety show in the world, according to Guinness World Records.

"I am at Telemundo's disposition, am open to doing whatever they need from me," he told Variety in an exclusive interview.

Kreutzberger's deal will utilize all of his experience with the Hispanic market to launch a joint production company to develop and produce original content for U.S. Hispanics.

"At the end of the day Telemundo has been the fastest-growing Spanish-language producer in the U.S.," Kreutzberger said. "And since what I know is how to produce, it's an honor and a challenge."

The 75-year-old host noted that Sabado Gigante, which had its final episode last September, began it's broadcasting in black and white and then transitioned into color and social media. He noted the importance of having programming available on all platforms to reach different audiences.

César Conde, chairman of NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises and NBCUniversal International Group, values Kreutzberger's experience in the market.

"Mario is the most recognized face of Spanish-language media around the world," said Conde. "We are extremely proud that he has chosen to join the Telemundo family. His numerous contributions to our community, endless expertise in innovative television entertainment and unique ability to engage world leader, reinforce our commitment to continue transforming the media landscape."

"I am extremely happy with this opportunity NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises is giving me. Telemundo network has experienced tremendous growth thanks to its clear vision and steadfast commitment to the Hispanic community. It is an honor for me to join this great international media company, which will allow me to develop new projects, and most importantly, stay connected to my loyal audience that has always been at my side," added Kreutzberger.

Telemundo's María Celeste Arrarás posted this photo welcoming Kreutzberger to the network.
