Kate Winslet may have not made it to the 2016 Oscars if it wasn't for a very important wig her husband bought for her.

In order for the actress to land the role as Joanna Hoffman in Steve Jobs—which subsequently lead to her Best Actress nomination at the Academy Awards this Year—she used a wig just to encourage producers to give her a shot.

She explained to Ryan Seacrest, "I really wanted them to send me the script because I had heard about it...and I just thought, 'That sounds like the most extraordinary role and what do I do to get myself the part?' But they just wouldn't send the script my way!"

She continued, "And I thought, 'Well, English, blonde, curvy, voluptuous—they're probably not thinking of me as the short, dark-haired, Polish-Armenian woman. I'll give them a bit of a nudge [with the wig]!' And it worked! It did the job!"

Indeed it did! She ended up getting nominating for one of the most prestigious awards of the evening.

In fact, Winslet chatted a bit about how, no matter how many Oscars shows she's attended and how many awards she's been nominated for, she still gets nervous.

"It's nerve-wracking. It's a very exciting year. It's been an extraordinary year for women in film, and to be part of this category that's been really diverse—lots of people floating in and out of it—just to have made it here, it feels amazing, but also very scary."
