Lauren Conrad is known more recently for her style, books, blog and tips for beautifying both yourself and your surroundings. But we all know that, en route to finding herself, she had to put up with a bunch of B.S. along the way.
And we probably should have paid (even) more attention to The Hills, because in retrospect it turns out that L.C. was doling out life lessons at a rapid clip, long before she became a lifestyle maven and poster girl for the well-curated life.
Put them all together and she's a downright sage!
And so, on the occasion of the Laguna Beach-born star's 30th birthday—which will presumably be celebrated in a most picturesque fashion—here are 30 nuggets of wisdom from the birthday girl herself:
ON FRIENDSHIP:
A very good place to start.
Perhaps the No. 1 rule of the real world. Life isn't one big pep rally.
But if so, a note on the fridge will do.
It's for the best.
It means they're not your friends! (See: Real World Rule No. 1)
She's probably not that great of a friend then, either.
Namely because it's the bad ones we spend all our time fixated on, and who has time for that?!
That goes for love and friendship.
Pretty much the definition of friendship.
If a guy is giving you a feeling you hate...then he's nowhere near good enough.
And if he likes you he doesn't want you wasting your time worrying about him.
Yep, and he definitely doesn't deserve all that effort.
And if not, at least you have some chocolate left over.
So said Teen Vogue's Lisa Love, but at that moment all the girls guilty of college-age bad-decision-making were reassured that they weren't the only ones who passed up an amazing trip abroad for a guy who wasn't the guy.
Unless he was storming said beach, that is.
Happily, when he's the right guy, you pick each other, no settling required.
ON WORK:
Words to live by.
Take initiative and stay organized—you never know when Marc Jacobs is going to be stopping by.
ON STYLE:
Right up there with "Easy, Breezy, Beautiful, CoverGirl."
Some trends aren't for everyone.
Don't talk it out before you're ready.
One is really hard without the other.
Try to be a gracious winner.
Yup, not your problem!
ON PROBLEM-SOLVING:
If something needs fixing, that is.
Alas, yes. But they do get better!
ON LIFE'S MYSTERIES:
How, indeed?
Where do our superstitions come from half the time, anyway?
This is a scientific fact.
Seriously, she's like some sort of Buddha.
Happy birthday, Lauren Conrad! Cheers to the journey—past, present and future!
