Rami Malek has plenty to celebrate at the 2016 SAG Awards, being a first-time nominee, but the Mr. Robot star steered the attention towards someone else on the red carpet.
The 34-year-old actor gave a sweet birthday shout-out to his mother, Nelly Malek, recently turned 70.
"It's my mom's 70th, so happy birthday, Mom, I love you!" Rami said on the red carpet at the SAG Awards Saturday, while being interviewed by E! News' Giuliana Rancic.
The actor was accompanied at the event by a publicist for Mr. Robot. Rami plays Elliot Alderson on the USA Network show, which debuted last year.
He had brought his mother to the 2016 Golden Globes earlier this month. Rami said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that all "she wanted to do was meet Jon Hamm." The Mad Men actor had beaten him for Golden Globe for Best Actor in Television Series, Drama.
Rami and Hamm are also both up for the 2016 SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series. Mr. Robot did not receive any other nods this year.
