Gal Gadot showcases a smoldering look as Wonder Woman in the first official image from the upcoming standalone movie, the first big-screen film dedicated to the DC superhero.

The 30-year-old Israeli actress, best known for her role in the recent two Fast & Furious movies, appears as the Amazon princess in a photo posted early on her Instagram page and released by studio Warner Bro. Pictures, which said in a press release that principal photography on the film has begun.

"Almost 75 years in the making...#WonderWoman is underway," Gadot wrote.

In the pic, she is covered up in what appears to be a hooded cloak, displaying her famous metallic "bracelets," or forearm cuffs, as well as a matching headpiece.

Snyder's standalone Wonder Woman film is set for release on June 23, 2017, more than 75 years after the character, whose alter ego is Diana Prince, made her debut in DC's All-Star Comics #8 in December 1941.

Patty Jenkins is directing Wonder Woman and it was revealed in July that the film also stars Chris Pine as Prince's love interest, Steve Trevor. Warner Bros. Pictures said on Saturday that the movie will also feature Robin Wright, Danny Huston, Harry Potter star David Thewlis, Ewen Bremner, Saïd Taghmaoui, Elena Anaya and Lucy Davis.

Gadot will make her debut as Wonder Woman in Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and promotional pics of her in the film were released months ago. Her superhero costume is darker, edgier, more Xena-like, and a far cry from the bright and colorful, patriotic outfit typically seen on the character and which Lynda Carter sported when she portrayed her in a '70s TV series.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Ben Affleck as the Caped Crusader, while Henry Cavill reprises his Man of Steel role. The movie is set for release on March 25, 2016.
