Harrison Ford, you rascal!

The 73-year-old actor surprised a slew of Star Wars fans via video chat, for a great cause. Ford, who played Han Solo in the original trilogy and reprises his role in the new one, took part in the Skype chat sessions to promote Omaze's Star Wars: Force for Change fundraising campaign and competition. The chat participants were past donors and entrants who initially thought they were set to talk solely to Omaze officials involved.

Ford was hilarious as he talked to the unsuspecting fans, showcasing his trademark dry humor and wit.

During one session, he spoke to a family of four and appeared behind the two Omaze workers holding a vintage Han Solo mask in front of his face before removing it, drawing a squeal and a hearty laugh from the parents.

"Who's your favorite character?" one of the officials asked another woman, who chatted solo.

"I have to go with Padmé," she replied, referring to Natalie Portman's character in the new trilogy.

"Who's your favorite character?" Ford asked, appearing suddenly.

"Hi Harrison," the woman said, astonished.

"Now, who's your favorite character?" he later says, as she sobs with delight.

The Star Wars: Force for Change fundraising campaign offers fans the chance to attend the movie's red carpet premiere in either London or Los Angeles, bring guests and meet the film's cast. Each $10 entry fee benefits 15 different charities.

The video was posted on Thursday, about a month before the release of the new Star Wars trilogy's first film and seventh movie in the franchise, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which is set for release on Dec. 18.
