In an interview with Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford on the Today show Monday—which was conducted before news of him and Gwen Stefani went public with their relationship—the country crooner opened up about his thoughts on women playing hard to get.
Gifford asked, "Is it true that though women who play hard to get become much more interesting like immediately?"
Shelton responded quickly, "No I don't have time for that crap," he said, straight-faced. "I want it now."
Apparently Stefani was just the no-game-type woman he needed!
Meanwhile, the Today hosts also couldn't help but mention Shelton's weight loss, which he continues to chalk up to the "divorce diet."
"The first half of the year, the divorce [from Miranda Lambert] happened and, I don't know, I just stopped eating. I really just stopped eating a little bit," he said before adding, "I didn't really think about it, and so now I feel likethat happened so long ago, I lost some weight and now I'm like, 'How did I do that? I need to do that again!'"
Other than making headlines for news surrounding his divorce and his new romance with the No Doubt singer, it was also just announced that Shelton will host the Kids Choice Awards in March.
Gifford joked, "World's worst role model for kids is hosting it!" To which Shelton slyly responded, "No, I'm like the reality. ‘Here's what you're going to end up like, kids. This is the best you can hope for!'"
But in all seriousness, there was a much bigger reason The Voice coach was hoping to host the Nickelodeon awards show…
"My agent called and was like, 'Man, you know, is there anything that you can think of that you'd want to do?'... and I actually had been thinking, 'I want to host those Kids' Choice Awards!'" He revealed before adding the truth to his desire, "I want to get slimed!"
LOL! We can't wait to watch him take the stage on Mar. 12!
