This warms our hearts! Tulsa World reports that an Oklahoma mail carrier by the name of Steve Shipman saved an 11-year-old girl from a burning house while working his mail route.

Reporter Paighten Harkins writes that Shipman rescued the girl after calling 911 and enlisting the help of a next-door neighbor to break open a window.

As a result of his bravery, the National Association of Letter Carriers, named Shipman one of their "2015 Letter Carrier Heroes of the Year."

The NALC website notes they started the awards program "To recognize these carriers, NALC established the Heroes of the Year Awards in 1974 to pay public tribute to outstanding letter carriers who, ignoring dangers to themselves, perform selfless and heroic acts to rescue those at risk of losing their lives."

Shipman doesn't consider himself a hero, Tulsa World says, but try telling that to the rest of the world.

We're willing to bet that the youngster, her family and anyone else with a heart and soul would have no problem giving him that title. Cheers to doing good!
