Former New York Rangers hockey player Sean Avery was arrested in Southampton Village on Wednesday, Sept. 30—just ten days before he's supposed to walk down the aisle with fiancée Hilary Rhoda.

E! News confirms Avery, 35, was charged with criminal mischief and two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Authorities say the criminal mischief charges stem from an incident on Sept. 29 in which Avery was caught throwing objects at speeding vehicles. After police interviewed several motorists who experienced similar incidents, they arrested the athlete the following day.

During his arrest, Avery was in possession of two prescription drugs, acetaminophen and oxycodone, which lead to his two addition charges.

He was processed and released after posting $500 bail and is due to appear back at the Southampton Village Justice Court on Oct. 26. The investigation is continuing as police are interviewing other motorists that may have been victims of his actions.

Avery's lawyer, Edward Burke Jr., tells E! News he and his client "look forward" to addressing the criminal mischief charges in court.

As for the criminal possession charges, Burke adds, "Mr. Avery has prescriptions for the medications that were the basis of this charge."

Avery also took to Twitter to share a photo of his prescriptions for the drugs. He wrote, "Pretty disgusting I even have to do this but unfortunately it's the same old story. Have fun with this one."

Meanwhile, the former NHL player is due to tie the knot with Rhoda on Saturday.

In June, the couple chatted to Hamptons magazine about why they chose to hold the wedding in the Hamptons.

"We have a house out here," the 28-year-old model told the publication at the time. "We've been spending so much time out here, every summer and a lot [of the rest of the year] too. We were thinking of doing it at some destination, but it really is just so much more personal and also a little bit easier than some exotic island somewhere."

The two have been engaged since Nov. 2013.
