David Beckham is returning to the soccer field—and for a great cause!

The 40-year-old revealed the news on BBC Radio 1's Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw on Friday.

"Obviously, everyone knows I retired three years ago and I never thought I'd actually be getting my boots out again and play but everyone knows that I'm ambassador of UNICEF so we've come together with UNICEF and we've decided to raise funds by doing a game," he said. "So I'll be bringing my boots back out, playing in a game on November 14 at Old Trafford, which again, I'm excited about."

"It's amazing, you know, obviously, I'm very proud to have been ambassador for UNICEF for the amount of time that I have and obviously, 2014 was one of the worst years for children and for the violence against children, so we're trying to make things better, we're trying to help children around the world and I think this is a good way of doing it," he said. "I think people are gonna love it."

David, who was named a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador 10 years ago, will serve as the captain of the Great Britain team, while retired French soccer star Zinedine Zidane will lead the Rest of the World team. Old Trafford is the home of the team which started his career, Manchester United. Tickets to the game will be sold on its website.

Technically, this will not be the first soccer match for David following his retirement.

"The game is six weeks away and I need to start getting out there and doing something and actually kicking a ball again because the only time I've actually kicked a ball throughout this time is with the kids and the only game that I've actually played since I retired was one against the teachers, dads and teachers at school," he said on the radio show.

He talked about his fitness regimen, saying he had begun boxing in London and that he and wife Victoria Beckham, 41, have attended SoulCycle classes.

"And we come out and we're actually dripping wet, so, yeah, that's a great workout," he said.

The two are parents to sons Brooklyn Beckham, 16, Romeo Beckham, 13, and Cruz Beckham, 10, as well as daughter Harper Beckham, 4. The kids, David said, play a lot of soccer in their house, which does not sit well with Victoria.

"Victoria is definitely the strict one...I think the kids are definitely more scared of Victoria than myself," he said, joking, "Me too!"

"Balls get kicked around the house all the time and to be honest, I kind of like it," he added. "But, you know, you have to put a foot down at some point."
