Rihanna attended friend and stylist Sonya Benson's wedding at American Whiskey in New York this weekend. The bride wore a strapless, ivory lace mermaid-style wedding dress with a long train, a sweetheart neckline, a short tulle veil and cross necklace and carried a bouquet of baby's breath flowers as she and James Markey exchanged vows in front of their loved ones.
"Yasss!!!! Congrats to my beautiful and crazy @sonyabens on tying da knot!!!" Rihanna, 27, said on Instagram on Saturday, alongside a pic of Benson talking on a cellphone. "F--king love you girl!!! James you the real mvp doe! #jimmysonz."
According to a source, guests started arriving around 5 p.m. local time for a night described as "fun and casual" that featured music from DJ Spade.
"Rihanna gave a fun emotional speech," our insider shared with E! News. "She talked about their relationship, how they met when she was 17 and that Sonya was one of the first friends she made that really influenced her in fashion."
At the wedding, the singer sang "Bitch Better Have My Money" and helped lead the crowd in the Macarena and the "Whip / Nae Nae."
"They were just really having a fun time," our source shared. "They were the life of the party."
Guests enjoyed southern inspired ribs, wings, lamb chop lollipops and seafood plates during the night. Cake was also served around 2:00 a.m.
Also this weekend, RiRi was spotted partying with another one of her friends, Katy Perry.
Benson was also photographed in a white, lace slip gown and an ivory feather headpiece. She posted on her Instagram page several photos from the wedding, including a pic of a gorgeous bouquet of lilies and roses Rihanna and another friend gifted her.
