Looking good, Abby Lee Miller!
Back in April, the Dance Moms star debuted a much slimmer figure, leaving many fans wondering how she achieved her dramatic weight loss.
And now, in the new issue of People magazine (on newsstands Friday), the Abby Lee Dance Company owner is opening up about her shocking slim down and sharing how she shed those lbs.
"There's no diet, there's no exercise," Miller, who went from a size 24 to a size 16, tells the publication, in addition to shooting down reports claiming she underwent weight loss surgery.
Instead, Miller attributes her extreme weight loss to her diabetes diagnosis, which happened to occur around the same time her mother was diagnosed with colon cancer—a battle which she lost in February 2014.
"When you're in and out of the hospital, that hospital food just makes you sick," Miller explains. "I think it was a little bit mental with me."
In addition filming Dance Moms in a Los Angeles area studio ("It was hot as hell, so nobody was eating a lot"), she also traveled to Australia to film a special for the Lifetime series, where she happened to run out of her diabetes medication.
"I had to get a prescription refilled – lo and behold, there's something different about that prescription in Australia," she says. "I would take this medicine and within an hour, I was vomiting like I was in fourth grade and had the flu or like I had food poisoning. It was awful. After I would throw up, I couldn't even look at food for the rest of the day."
With regards weight loss surgery, Miller tells People, "that would have been easy," but she also acknowledges that she is no where near the end of her weight loss. "I'm not slim by any means. I have a long, long way to go."
