We understand that there are some friendships that just don't make sense, but this is one we never saw coming.
Kevin Federline tells Us Weekly that he and Justin Timberlake are pals. That's right. Britney Spears' exes are supposedly good friends! We guess there could be some sort of camaraderie in bonding over a mutual ex-girlfriend, but still, color us surprised.
"We're cool. Me and J are. I actually just went to his last show in Vegas and hung out with him, got to see a lot of old friends," Federline, who used to backup dance for the performer, tells the magazine. "I'm friends with all the security guys. [They're] great, they're incredible. We've actually—guys that work with him have worked with us and still work with me, still to this day. You know everybody, you're friends with everybody. And yeah, me and J are cool."
Spears' ex-husband and father of her children further explains how they came to be friends. "My best friend is his choreographer so we have mutual friends, and I mean, we've gone out golfing, we've hung out," he says. "You get older, you grow up, and you realize that was just a time in your life. Sh-t happens."
Timberlake is a passionate golfer, so for both of them to hit the course together means that any animosity must be water under the bridge! Even though a mutual ex might be a reason these two can bond, K.Fed confesses they don't talk about her.
"It is what it is to us," he says.
Although neither relationship worked out—Timberlake would go on to blast Spears in "Cry Me a River" while K.Fed and Spears divorced later on—all parties have found love with other people. Timberlake married Jessica Biel Spears and Federline are a classic case of friendly celeb exes and often appear at their sons' soccer games together.
"The schedule's kind of been worked out over time. We talk when we need to," Federline dished to Access Hollywood. "It's always about the boys, it's always mostly school stuff and making sure we stay on top of that. It's going great. I'm in a happy place right now."
"I had to work this weekend and go to Orange County, so they went to Vegas," he added. "And when she has to do something and I need to keep the kids, it just works out well. You have to put your kids first no matter what, that's how I feel."
