A long, long time ago (OK, almost eight years), millions of people bombarded their family and friends' email inboxes and Facebook feeds with a YouTube video that was sweet, innocent, and a little bizarre: A 55-second clip of a toddler biting his older brother's finger. Multiple times. With glee.
This video, titled, simply, "Charlie Bit My Finger - Again!" has been viewed more than 816 million times since it was posted on May 22, 2007, because, Internet. The clip was even mentioned on an episode of 30 Rock in 2012 and also spoofed on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.
The toddler, Charlie Davies-Carr, is now 9 years old, while his brother and YouTube co-star, Harry Davies-Carr, is 11. BBC's children's channel CBBC recently visited the British family.
"It makes me laugh," Harry told the outlet, when asked how he felt about so many people watching it.
"Is it a bit embarrassing as well?" the reporter asked.
"No," Charlie replied. "I think it's a bit odd that loads of people have watched it."
CBBC reported that the boy's father, Howard Davies-Carr, had posted the clip on YouTube because the file was too large to send via email. Charlie added that his dad uploaded it to the website so that his "godfather could see it in America."
Thanks to advertising and sponsorship deals, the "Charlie Bit My Finger - Again" video has made thousands of pounds for the family, which also includes mother Shelley Davies-Carr and little brothers Jasper and Rupert, CBBC reported. In 2013, the Davies-Carrs appeared in an ad for French vehicle manufacturer Renault's ZOE EV electric car.
"To everyone who has asked where we have been," reads the text in a family YouTube video posted in December. "Just very very very busy."
