Talk about an inside job.
Two housekeepers employed by David and Victoria Beckham were taken into custody Tuesday in Hertfordshire, England, for allegedly looting the famous couple's mansion of souvenirs and then selling them on eBay.
Per U.K. reports, the purported thieves, 55-year-old Eric Emmett and his 56-year-old wife, June, have been working at the $22 million "Beckhingham Palace" northeast of London for more a decade.
The staffers supposedly swiped soccer jerseys and boots belonging to Becks, as well as designer dresses worn by the erstwhile Posh Spice. The memorabilia was then put up for sale on the auction site, raking in thousands of dollars.
The Beckhams were apparently alerted to the pilfering by Victoria's parents, Tony and Jackie Adams, who came across the eBay lots by a seller called "Posh and Becks," who claimed to be a relative of a staffer at the sports idol's soccer academy.
"An incident has taken place, the matter is now in the hands of the police and we cannot comment further," Beckham rep Cheryl Maisel told E! News.
The Emmetts have since posted bail and are now under investigation, but Eric has denied the allegations.
"What is in the papers is fabricated nonsense. Totally fabricated, 99 percent of it is totally untrue," he told the Guardian newspaper.
The couple are due back at the police station on Nov. 22.
