Lisa Rinna came very close to not joining the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills after her husband, Harry Hamlin, threatened to divorce her if she appeared on the reality TV show.

While appearing on Live! With Kelly and Michael, the reality star dished that her successful gig almost cost her marriage.

"I went to Harry and said I'm thinking about [doing RHOBH] and he looked at me and said, 'If you do this show, I'll divorce you.'"

Thankfully, the two are still married after 18 years because her husband and Veronica Mars alum changed his mind about the strong ultimatum he gave his Melrose Place-starring wife. At first, however, she took Hamlin's words seriously and considered backing out of the project.

"I walked away and was done with it," she told host Kelly Ripa. "Actually, I was done with the show idea."

After sitting on the idea for a short while, Hamlin approved of his wife's new (and now successful) venture.

"He comes to me a day later and he goes - and you've met him, he's very mellow, very low-key - and he said, 'I've thought about this and I think it'll be a good idea if you did it.' He went through it. And I was like 'OK.' And there you are!" she explained.

Although Hamlin seldom appears in the show, Rinna and her castmates will discuss her relationship with the Golden Globe nominee. She opened up on this week's episode about her husband's sobriety and his struggle with addiction to co-star Yolanda Foster.

"Harry's been sober, um, three years," she revealed on the show.

"After two brothers dying, that's probably when he said, 'No more,'" said Foster.

"I think it just woke him up, and in his mind he said, 'You know what? I have to stop this,' because, you know, it goes back hundreds of years," said Lisa.

"It's a true illness, you know?" Foster responded.

Rinna revealed that her husband lost both of his brothers to alcoholism within six months of each other.
