Star in the new Star Wars, she might.

The Theory of Everything's Felicity Jones is reportedly tapped to play the female lead in the upcoming Star Wars stand-alone film from Lucasfilm and Disney, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Oscar-nominated is in talks to star in the project, which Gareth Edwards is directing and Chris Weitz is writing (Weitz was recently hired to replace Gary Whitta, who penned the first draft).

According to the report, actresses were meeting, reading and testing last week in Los Angeles for the role, including Rooney Mara and Tatiana Maslany.

When asked about casting, the studio told E! News, "It would go on StarWars.com before we'd be able to comment/not comment."

The Godzilla director, whose reboot of the classic monster tale gobbled upward of $216 million worldwide, has been chosen to helm one of Disney's promised Star Wars films that will stand alone from the planned trilogy that picks up where Return of the Jedi left off.

"Ever since I saw Star Wars I knew exactly what I wanted to do for the rest of my life— join the Rebel Alliance! I could not be more excited and honored to go on this mission with Lucasfilm," Edwards said in a statement.

And the as-yet untitled film already has an announced release date—Dec. 16, 2016.
