Last night's special Super Bowl edition of Jimmy Fallon's celebrity lip sync battle took us to a whole new place. Namely, a place where Will Ferrell made us feel uncomfortable.

(In case you were caught in a web of Patriots-induced scorn, Ferrell joined his Get Hard costar Kevin Hart in a sync-off, and did a very um, committed, rendition of Beyoncé's "Drunk in Love.")

But it also made us laugh. Thus is the mystery of the lip-sync battle: Performances elicit a true range of emotions. As such, we decided to journey back through some of our favorite Tonight Show (and Late Show!) bits to see who truly dominated the art of fake singing.

Things will get a little heated, but that's just how Jimmy Fallon likes it.

Best Spirit Fingers: Paul Rudd performing "You Better Be Good to Me"

Rudd so embodies Tina Turner's essence here that it's almost alarming—right down to her facial expressions. But he kicked things off marvelously with the jazziest jazz hands ever. Captured!

Strongest Neck Muscles: Joseph Gordon-Levitt performing "Super Bass"

It's not easy to head pop like that. Unless you're JGL and you've been doing neck raises for the past month in preparation.

Best Use of a Drink "Prop": Blake Shelton performing "Puttin' on the Ritz"

It's no secret that Shelton likes his drinks. So naturally, when it was his turn to perform a lip-sync, he had to bring a glass of bubbly up on stage with him. Luckily, even Blake knows to hand off the drink when it's time to for the two-steppin'.

Best Infusion of Street Cred: Gwen Stefani performing "Call Me Maybe"

This is not an exaggeration: Gwen Stefani is the flyest fly who ever flied. So, it's no surprise that she took Carly Rae Jepson's pop song to a, well, flier level. Fast forward to the 4:35 mark to catch Gwen in action.

Best Actual Show of Legitmate Talent: Emma Stone performing "Hook" and "All I Do Is Win"

This is a wee bit unfair since Emma Stone is a legitimate Broadway performer, but she still blew us away. We expected her to be awesome; we did not expect her to be awesome at rapping.

Best Sexual Charisma: John Krasinski performing "Teenage Dream"

John Krasinski could star in a puppet show and still win Best Sexual Charisma, so it's no surprise that he walked away with the prize here. The man just knows how to croon, baby. Plus, you can really sense that he actually does sing and dance to "Teenage Dream," even when he's not on Late Night

Best Use of the Hips: Will Ferrell performing "Drunk In Love"

Bey, is that you? Those dance moves seem eerily familiar.

Best Nipples: Jimmy Fallon performing "Ebony and Ivory"

Oh, wait, we may have misunderstood this one. But still, those are some darn good nipples.
