Laurieann Gibson is undoubtedly a game changer in the dance world, having choreographed for A-listers aplenty.
The Emmy-nominated director sat down with dancer and Vampire Diaries star Kat Graham ahead of the 57th Annual Grammy Awards this weekend to chat about what inspires the star, who also revealed what she hopes to bring to the audience in each performance.
Gibson shared she's inspired by "something that has an emotional effect on the people watching, to connect the music and movement…and make us feel something."
She added that choreography "not just about stringing together movements…it's a language. If I move my hand, there is always an intention behind it."
In the video, sponsored by Degree Women, Gibson also tells the story of how she became a choreographer in addition to revealing her definition of "game changing."
"Game changing for me…is to elevate the performance by doing something unexpected," she said. "For me, that's game changing—when everyone thought the performance would look like this and then you make it look the complete opposite."
