2015 is shaping up to be a pretty good year for Eddie Redmayne

Not only did the actor tie the knot with wife Hannah Bagshawe just before the New Year, but he's also receiving major critical acclaim for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything—a role for which he may possibly take home the Golden Globe award for Best Actor on Sunday.

"I had months to work with ALS patients," the 33-year-old British hunk told Glamour's February issue of how he prepared to play the 77-year-old theoretical physicist with ALS. "Even though it is such a horrific disease, you find great humor and vivacity from people in the most extreme circumstances."

As for how Redmayne landed the role, which is shaping up to be his best performance yet, in the James Marsh-directed flick?

Universal Pictures

"I chased it pretty hard. I called [the director] James, and we met in London. He drank a few coffees; I downed a few pints. As I got more tipsy, I got more effusive about my desire to play this part," he recalled. "I had no idea that there was such an astounding story behind Hawking."

The Theory of Everything isn't the only movie where fans can catch a glimpse of the Tony-award winning star on the big screen in 2015. He also stars in Jupiter Ascending alongside Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum, and if you peeped any pics from the flick, then you're well aware that Redmayne bulked up for the role (swoon!).

"Filming Jupiter Ascending was the first time I ever had a six-pack," he confessed. "All I wanted to do was strut confidently on the beach."

Eddie's laid-back attitude towards Hollywood is evidence of his relaxed demeanor, and, in spite of being a movie star, he lives a pretty average life.

Asked to reveal the first thing he did after wrapping two films back-to-back he replied, "Walk with [wife Hannah Bagshawe] in London and go to the Pizza Express for a La Reine with extra pepperoni. Real classy."

But just when you think Redmayne's a regular guy, you suddenly remember that not only is he an A-list actor, but he's also rubbed elbows with royalty, having gone to school with Prince William.

"We were on the same rugby team at Eton College. He's a wonderful man," he says of Kate Middleton's husband. "I always felt slightly sorry for him because everyone wanted to tackle the future king of England. He took all the hits."

Too funny. Good luck on Sunday, Eddie!
