Mark Sullivan/WireImage.com, Gary Gershoff/WireImage.comHeroes blondie Hayden Panettiere will be starring with Kieran Culkin in Daydream Nation, described in The Hollywood Reporter as "a teenage comedy." She is the somewhat bitchy girl, and he is her dummy boyfriend. (And Milo Ventimiglia is the guy standing five feet offscreen during every kissing scene, doing his best Sylvester Stallone impersonation and scowling.)
My only hesitation is the use of the word daydream, which conjures up thoughts of the highly irritating band the Monkeys. Other than that, sounds okay—especially because producers are going more for quirky-smart Election than dopey-candy Bratz. Plus, Culkin won me over for good in Igby Goes Down, a movie that a lot of people, as it happens, find highly irritating. But of course, people are stupid.
It feels like I write about Hayden taking on some new movie every single week. Hmmm, I wonder if somebody is, like, dying to escape superhero TV land and become a movie star. Ya think?
