Here's hoping Cam Newton walks away from this unscathed.
The Carolina Panthers quarterback was involved in a car wreck shortly after 12:30 p.m. ET in Charlotte, N.C., according to WBTV 3.
Newton was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital. Officials have not yet released any information regarding injuries, but a police source told WBTV that Newton was not seriously injured and had been taken to the hospital as a precaution.
Jonathan Jones, Panthers reporter for the Charlotte Observer, tweeted that an officer had confirmed that Newton was behind the wheel of his truck at the time of the crash and was responsive to emergency personnel.

A picture of the 25-year-old athlete smiling and propping himself up with his right arm while lying on the road as paramedics attended to him was also tweeted by the Observer's account, and another reporter at the scene posted a photo of Newton fully strapped into a stretcher as he was being wheeled to the ambulance.

Witnesses said that the truck rolled over several times.
Per WBTV, the accident occurred on the South Church Street Bridge at Interstate 277.
In what has been a rather dismal season, the now 4-8 Panthers hit a high note on Sunday, beating the New Orleans Saints on the road, 41-10.
Newton was the No. 1 NFL draft pick in 2011 after leading Auburn to two national championships and winning the Heisman Trophy.
