No one is laughing at the allegations of sexual assault made against Bill Cosby—especially not his fellow comedians.
Jerry Seinfeld and Chris Rock addressed the controversy surrounding the 77-year-old at the Top 5 premiere in New York City Wednesday, both telling E! News they found the entire situation "sad."
Rock, 49, spoke to New York Magazine's latest issue about the troublesome topic as well, saying, "I don't know what to say. What do you say?"
"I hope it's not true. That's all you can say," he went on. "I really do. I grew up on Cosby. I love Cosby, and I just hope it's not true. It's a weird year for comedy. We lost Robin [Williams], we lost Joan [Rivers], and we kind of lost Cosby."
Cosby, who has never been charged with sexual abuse or assault, was asked Tuesday by lawyer Gloria Allred to waive his statute of limitations "so he can clear his name" and face three of his alleged victims in court. Alternatively, she suggested the once-iconic personality could put $100 million into a fund which could then be awarded by mediators to the alleged victims.
Cosby's attorney, Martin Singer, did not immediately respond to Allred's suggestion. Previously, however, he's denied all sexual abuse allegations made against his client, saying in a statement obtained by NBC News, "We've reached a point of absurdity...The stories are getting more ridiculous."
Cosby himself has remained quiet on the subject, with the exception of Wednesday, when he tweeted Whoopi Goldberg and Jill Scott his appreciation for their public support of him.
Others, like Seinfeld, admit they "really don't know what to make" of all the allegations. Watch the video above to hear more of what Seinfeld and Rock have to say...
