Late night just got a huge dose of rock ‘n' roll!

As Craig Ferguson prepares for his final weeks as host of The Late Late Show, the program has lined up a pretty impressive band to rock the house one last time.

According to Metallica's official Twitter, lead singer James Hetfield and the band will perform five nights in a row next month.

"We'll be playing on @LateLateShowCBS for an entire week starting Monday, November 17th #LateLateShow," the group revealed Wednesday. CBS also confirmed that the band will be interviewed on their first night.

The final performance will come days before Metallica re-release a special 10-year anniversary edition of their long out of print documentary METALLICA: Some Kind of Monster.

This isn't the first time a successful band has taken over the late-night scene for an entire week.

Earlier this month, Grammy-winning rock band the Foo Fighters took up a residence at the Ed Sullivan Theatre on the Late Show With David Letterman.

In support of their forthcoming album, Sonic Highways, Dave Grohl and the band performed a wide variety of songs for the late-night host who is a huge fan of the group's music.

The Late Late Show will soon experience a whole lot of change once Ferguson steps away from the stage.

"At the end of this year, I will be stepping down as host of this show," he shared with a surprised audience back in April. "Then I'll go and do something else, probably. I'm thinking carpentry, but I haven't made my mind up yet. I don't know what I'm going to do yet but I feel doing this show for 10 years, that's enough."

CBS later announced that James Corden would replace Ferguson on the program beginning in March 2015. The show will tape in Los Angeles with Ben Winston serving as the executive producer.
