Despite reports to the contrary, J.K. Rowling's next book will not be a romance novel.

The Harry Potter author took to Twitter to clear the air about the latest slew of rumors buzzing about her upcoming projects.

"There's a story in today's Mail that I was in a London bar on Monday 'celebrating' handing in a 'romantic novel' to my publishers," she began by saying on her social media page.

"1) I haven't handed in ANY kid of novel to my publishers. I'm only half way through my current book. 2) It isn't a 'romantic' novel. And 3) (brace yourselves) I sometimes have a drink when I haven't finished a book. Yes, that's how rock and roll I really am."

She concluded her witty response to the rumor mill by telling her most devoted fans, "Back to work now. See you when I've finished something X."

Rowling first caused a frenzy after she posted a riddle earlier this month that read: "Cry, foe! Run amok! Fa awry! My wand won't tolerate this nonsense. Something to ponder while I'm away X."

Of course, hours later and after much debate on Twitter, the 49-year-old writer confirmed one fan's guesswork.

"@jk_rowling Newt Scamander only meant to stay in New York for a few hours... #anagram," the follower exclaimed. "YES!!!!!!!!!!!! People, we have a winner!" Rowling replied

Shortly thereafter she tweeted, "OK, the next riddle is... kidding. As I said (was it only 2 days ago?) I've got a novel to finish and a screenplay to tweak."

It's only a matter of time before she finally unveils what she's been hard at work on over the last several months!
