Does Josh Groban know about his girlfriend's "very dark and tortured" past?

Kat Dennings joked about her Pennsylvania upbringing on TBS' Conan Wednesday. Why did she describe her childhood as such? "I don't know," she said. "I lived in a nice house with a nice family in the woods."

The 2 Broke Girls actress admitted that it was "kind of" creepy growing up in the woods. "I mean, we lived on top of a hill in a place called Bryn Mawr, which now is a little bit more built up, but it's in the woods," the TV star, 28, said. "There were deer. There were no other neighbors. There was weather."

How else was her childhood unusual?

"I recently went over to my parents' house and went through their storage shed with all my crap in it, because I promised that I would do it for like 12 years and I didn't do it," Dennings said. "I found a diary entry that I think sort of sums up [who I was] and who I sort of still am." She Instagrammed the passage in May and read it aloud on the late-night talk show: "I'm bord...bord, bord, bord...Take me now Lord!"

"It's alarming, isn't it?" she asked. "If your child wrote that and you found it, what would happen?"

"My agent would contact me," Conan O'Brien joked. "He would go through the line of people and then it would finally come to me and I would make sure people take care of it—because I live in a bubble."

Dennings also came with a photo of one of her "goth" Halloween costumes. "I was kind of obsessed with The Addams Family, and I went through a phase where I thought I was Wednesday Addams and I would introduce myself as Wednesday to strangers. I would sleep [with my arms crossed, like Christina Ricci's character]. It was horrible!" the Thor: The Dark World star said. "Straight drama. I was very dramatic."

While laughing at the photo with O'Brien, Dennings marveled, "Look how committed I was! I was so into it! I was like, 'Oh, the veil of darkness!'" What did Dennings' parents think of her dark wardrobe? "They didn't care," she said. "I was their fifth child. They were like, 'You do what you want to do. You're fine.'"
