Ellen DeGeneres appears to already be in the Halloween spirit, and when it comes to pranks she ain't clownin' around!

Eric Stonestreet, who plays Cam on the comedy Modern Family, remembered all too well how the TV show host pranked him not one, not two but three times on her show since 2012, scaring him during a "haunted hallway" skit and with surprise appearances by men in clown and dog costumes. So when the Emmy-winning actor recently returned to The Ellen DeGeneres show, he brought along a crack security team made up of two buddies, Paul and Stacy.

During the episode, DeGeneres told the men they could stay in the back, promising Stonestreet that "nobody's coming out." So, of course, she had to get creative and strike at the opportune moment.

"I've scared @EricStonestreet so many times, he brought bodyguards with him. So, I had to think out of the box," DeGeneres joked on Twitter.

"I've never coming back!" joked Stonestreet, who has appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show six times. "One of your favorite guests—you've just lost him!"

"Good job! Way to go guys!" he said, addressing his friends. "I'm almost crying!"

The episode aired on Wednesday, hours before the season 6 premiere of Modern Family.

"Hey folks. Make sure to watch my 10th and final appearance on the @TheEllenShow Wednesday. #imdone #weRdone #itsover #seeya @andylassner," Stonestreet said, naming The Ellen DeGeneres Show's executive producer.

Stonestreet is somewhat of a prankster himself. He has poked fun at his Modern Family co-star Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who plays Cam's husband Mitch, multiple times in public and has also shared funny Vine videos of himself joking with random people.
