Thomas Jane would prefer to avoid punishment, thank you very much.

The star of films such as The Punisher and The Mist pleaded not guilty Wednesday to three DUI-related charges stemming from his March 17 bust near Bakersfield, Calif., a Kern County Superior Court spokeswoman told E! News.

Authorities said the California Highway Patrol clocked Jane going between 120 and 125 miles per hour before pulling him over in the early morning hours. After determining he was under the influence, officers impounded his 2008 Maserati and took him to Kern County Jail, where he was booked on suspicion of DUI and released later that morning.

On Wednesday, his attorney, H.A. Sala, entered pleas of not guilty on misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol level above the 0.08 percent state limit and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.

Jane is required to appear at the Shafter Courthouse for a pretrial hearing on May 19.

The 39-year-old actor also guest-starred last season on wife Patricia Arquette's NBC drama Medium, playing her dead ex-boyfriend, whose ghostly presence ends up haunting Allison Dubois' hubby Joe far more than it does Allison.
