It's the summer Hollywood just doesn't want you to forget about!

17 years after Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe and Freddie Prinze Jr. graced the big screen as high school teenagers in I Know What You Did Last Summer, one movie studio is planning a major reboot.

According to Deadline, Sony Pictures has tapped Oculus co-writer and director Mike Flanagan and partner Jeff Howard to adapt the 1973 book once again.

Neal Moritz, who produced the original film, will also return for the project.

The thriller tells the story of four teens who accidently run over a pedestrian. In hopes of not getting into trouble, the group quickly decides to dispose the body into the water.

But just when they get comfortable, an anonymous letter appears with the message, "I know what you did last summer." Turns out their actions will continue to haunt them in the weeks and months to come.

The surprise hit grossed more than $125 million worldwide and spawned two sequels including I Still Know What You Did Last Summer and the direct-to video I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer. We see a pattern here, folks.

A tentative release date is scheduled for 2016.
