The Hiltons used to be the ones doing the charging. Nowadays, they seem to be more familiar with being charged.

The Los Angeles District Attorney on Thursday formally charged 18-year-old Barron Hilton with four misdemeanors stemming from his early morning arrest last month in Malibu.

All told, Paris' bro was slapped with one count each of driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol level above the 0.08 percent legal limit, unlawful use of a license and unlicensed driving.

Equally notable is that the teen was not charged with any felonies. At the time of his bust, authorities suspected Hilton of possessing a forged California driver's license. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department even went so far as to increase his bail from $5,000 to $20,000 because of the more serious charge.

As it is, the third of Kathy and Rick Hilton's four offspring was arrested just after 8 a.m. on Feb. 12 after getting pulled over by a sheriff's deputy on Pacific Coast Highway. Per the arrest report, the minor blew a 0.14 percent blood-alcohol reading, nearly double the legal limit for someone over 21, let alone just 18. He was also in possession of a fake ID, authorities said.

An unidentified female was with Barron at the time of his arrest. Hilton was tracked down after his Mercedes E350, with the girl allegedly behind the wheel, sideswiped a truck and, well, kept on truckin'. Sometime between the smash and the arrest, the duo apparently switched spots in the vehicle, with Hilton behind the wheel when the deputies caught up with them.

In the end, after nine hours in police custody, three of Hilton's friends pooled together to post the teen's five-figure bail—after sisters Paris and Nicky and his parents refused.

His arraignment is scheduled for Apr. 14.
