He may be out of touch with his ex, but Cris Judd still has full confidence in Jennifer Lopez's maternal instincts.

"She's going to be a great mom," Judd said Wednesday on the Yo on E! satellite radio show. (Listen to the interview.)

The multihyphenate diva and her third husband, Marc Anthony, welcomed twins Max and Emme on Feb. 22. The new arrivals were the first children for Lopez and the fourth and fifth for Anthony, who has kids from two previous relationships.

Judd, a former backup dancer and choreographer who wed Lopez in September 2001, said she "always wanted to be [a mother], and so I think this is good for her."

He said he hasn't spoken to Lopez in four or five years—and hence won't be sending her a baby gift.

However, before their brief marriage ended in June 2002, he said kids were a frequent topic of conversation.

"Absolutely, we talked about it," Judd said. But he has no regrets that their union produced no offspring.

"I don't think would have, could have, should have," he said. "It just didn't work out between us, and it's cool."

Judd is currently working on his new Lifetime reality series, Your Mama Don't Dance.
