UPDATE: Michael Sam apparently passed his physical with flying colors! On Wednesday the history-making football player tweeted:
"As a kid growing up in Texas I always loved the Dallas Cowboys, so to join this incredible organization is really a dream come true. I want to thank the Jones family, the entire Cowboys organization, and the city of Dallas for giving me this opportunity. I look forward to putting my helmet and pads on every day to work my hardest to help bring a sixth Super Bowl Championship to Dallas!!"
Is Michael Sam already off the market?
The 2013 SEC Defensive Player of the Year, who became the first openly gay athlete to be drafted by an NFL team, will undergo a physical Wednesday and, if all goes accordingly, could end up signed to the Dallas Cowboys' 10-man practice squad, according to multiple reports.
The St. Louis Rams, which made Sam the 249th pick of the 2014 NFL Draft, released him on Saturday during the team's final round of cuts and then declined to sign him to their practice squad.

But it looks as though the second-wealthiest sports team in the United States, which hasn't made the playoffs in the last four seasons, may have gained another bit of star power to add to their injury-riddled defense.
"I don't want to talk about available players," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told Dallas' 105.3 The Fan this morning, per the Dallas Morning-News' SportsDay, as rumors about Sam kicked into gear.
During the preseason, Sam recorded 11 tackles and three sacks with the Rams. He has cleared waivers and is free to sign with any team.
"I want to thank the entire Rams organization and the city of St. Louis for giving me this tremendous opportunity and allowing me to (1/2) show I can play at this level," Sam tweeted Saturday upon his release from the team. "I look forward to continuing to build on the progress I made here toward a long and successful career (2/2).
"The most worthwhile things in life rarely come easy, this is a lesson I've always known," he added. "The journey continues."
And it looks as though the journey is taking him to Dallas.
