If only the hills really did have eyes…

Pauly Shore has filed a countersuit against Wes Craven charging that the famed horror director is responsible for slope failure on his Hollywood Hills property—the same allegation Craven leveled at Shore last year.

According to the new complaint filed Feb. 11 in Los Angeles Superior Court, a landslide started to occur in the Son in Law star's yard in December 2006—and the slope is still crumbling to this day—because Craven failed to properly maintain his hillside's landscape and vegetation.

Instead, per the suit, he let water soak into the hill, thereby changing its "geology, topography and drainage," and, while he keeps the body count high in his films, never took steps to exterminate rodents that had burrowed into the hillside, further undermining the foundation.

Shore is alleging negligence, nuisance and trespass concerning damage to his land.

Meanwhile, Craven sued Shore in June, contending the actor damaged his property after failing to take necessary precautions while renovating his backyard the previous year.

The installation of a pool and spa, as well as other landscaping and home-improvement projects, resulted in water runoff eroding a part of Craven's property, which is built on a lower level than Shore's place, according to the Scream auteur's lawsuit.

Like Shore, Craven has drummed up accusations of nuisance, negligence and trespass. Both Hollywood fixtures are also claiming to have suffered emotional distress as a result of the too-close-to-home disturbance and are seeking unspecified damages and a judgment determining once and for all just who is responsible for this nightmare.
